ASAL ACADEMY is a training and human resources development center that focuses on developing the skills necessary for sustainable economic development.
The center was initially founded as a subsidiary of Asal Solutions, an ICT consulting and solutions provider based in Mogadishu, to build ICT skills and enable the fresh university graduates to develop hands-on skills to join the workforce.
Since then ASAL ACADEMY adopted a wider view for skill development and has incorporated a number of programs that have the potential to empower economic development in the country through skill development programs that address existing market gaps.
The academy is registered as a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and has offices in Mogadishu and Hargeisa. However, it’s capacity building and human development programs cover all the Somali regions.
The academy now focuses on three main areas:
Vocational Training
we provide Vocational Training for the members of the youth who have not joined the universities yet, and who want to join the workforce with critical skills for gainful employment.
These programs aim to produce technicians.
Professional Training
We provide Professional Training for university graduates in a variety of skill areas including but not limited to technology, engineering, business and entrepreneurship, and education (teacher training, school administration, etc).
Research
Research on human development and employment markets. This is a focus area of the Academy that is intended to inform the development of our programs and curricula.
